High school students across the country and around the world take Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams to challenge themselves, explore their interests, earn college credit, and gain “advanced” placement for course selections. Your AP exam scores can earn college credit before you set foot on a college campus, and perhaps, let you skip introductory college courses. Since 1993, the State Legislature has provided funds to support student achievement and increase both student AP participation and performance with subsidizes for AP exam fees and district reimbursements for a portion of a teacher’s training registration fee through the enactment of the AP/IB Incentive Program.

2025-2026 AP-IB Exam Subsidy
The AP-IB exam state subsidy for the Spring 2026 administration is $27 for each AP and IB exam taken by a subsidy-eligible student. All students enrolled in a Texas public school may be considered for a Texas AP-IB exam fee subsidy. However, each student’s eligibility must be confirmed using the published criteria, which can be found on the . The criteria to qualify for a Texas exam fee subsidy is the same for both AP and IB students and the subsidy applies to every AP and IB exam taken by an eligible student.
AP/IB Exam Subsidy Reimbursements
- AP exam fee subsidies will be granted as a discount on the AP Program Invoice to be paid by the school, on or before June 15, 2026.
- The College Board will invoice ĢƵƬ for the 2026 AP exam fee subsidies credited on each campus AP Program Invoice.
- After reconciliation of the state invoice, ĢƵƬ will reimburse the College Board’s AP Program for AP exam fee subsidies granted to districts on their June 2026 invoices.
- IB exam fee subsidies will be managed by each school and/or district.
- Each school may submit a ĢƵƬ IB exam fee reimbursement (subsidy) application after all 2026 IB exams have been administered.
- The IB exam fee subsidy application will be available on ĢƵƬ’s IB webpage after the 2026 exams have been administered. [MM1]
