AUSTIN, Texas – November 10, 2022 – The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬ (Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬) today announced final financial accountability ratings for more than 1,200 school districts and charter schools across the state, with 85 percent earning the highest rating possible for 2021-2022.

Created in 2001 by the 77th Texas Legislature, the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) is designed to encourage public schools to improve their management of financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.

NAEP is administered in reading and math for a sample of students in 4th and 8th grades roughly every two years in every state.Ìý

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 297 schools as for 2022, including 31 schools in Texas. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Secretary Cardona made the announcement during his Road to Success Back to School bus tour.
